June 16, 2010 - Honoring Slaves Who Helped Build the Capitol:
Not long ago, when CAN visited Washington, D.C., so many participants noted that there was no evidence of the
enslaved African Americans who built the US Capitol. On this day, the plaque below was placed in the United States Capitol
in honor of our ancestors:
CAN is part of a community effort consisting of students, seniors, parents,
businesses with the Borough of Roselle and working on our first Inter-generational Community Garden. Look for more info
to come or if you want to get involved contact: BT Mathis at the Roselle Community Center 908-245-6717

Community Acting Now developed a proposal which was approved by the Borough
of Roselle Council. This has resulted in the implementation of Roselle's 1st Inter-generational Community Garden which is
located at the Anthony Amalfe Community Center (Roselle Community Center) , 1268 Shaffer Ave., Roselle, NJ.
The response has been overwhelming great. If
you want to get involved, please contact BT Mathis, from 12pm-4pm, at the community center, 908-245-6717.
