C H A L L E N G E
“God knows and your weight shows”
As we each strive to attain the highest level
of living through the Promise of God , there are two critical physical success factors necessary to actually realize your Promise:
Maintaining your health
The United States is currently faced with obesity which has reached epidemic proportions. This problem significantly
impacts the African American and Hispanic communities due to:
poor eating habits
lack of exercise
high demand for “fast food”
high concentration of
“fast food” in neighborhoods
lack of education with emphasis on nutrition and good eating habits
Instructions for POUNDS FOR PROMISE CHALLENGE:
Make up your mind and choose to lose weight
to improve your health.
Pledge to yourself and to God that you will lose weight.
Consult with your doctor
Identify the method
of weight reduction that:
works best for you, your schedule and life style
includes changing your eating and food preparation
educates you on nutrition
Include the 3 W's: Walk, Water, Willpower
at least every other day, park further distances, use stairs versus elevator
Water: drink the recommended
8 glasses per day
Willpower: learn to discipline yourself when eating and shopping for food
Start on a (day of your
choice) and weigh yourself (use the same scale every time)
Implement the 3 W's and the nutrition program you've chosen.
Weigh yourself every
Every (Same day you chose in #6) weight yourself
and write down your total # of pounds lost during that specific week.
Disqualifiers: Since we're fostering improved
health through good eat habits - diet pills and surgery are invalid methods of weight reduction for the purpose of this challenge.
The honor system will be used, no team weigh in - God knows
and your weight shows.
For those who choose to, you can send us a quick note letting us know the total # of pounds lost by the
combined participants. The combined number will be published on our Community Acting Now web site “His Promise Corner”
page. Again, one big number reported all participants remain anonymous. It's a small way of us encouraging each other.
Use the form below to
submit your total number of pounds lost each week. For example, if you lost 2 pounds during the week, you just
submit 2 pounds. Don't keep adding up all of your pounds otherwise we'll be double counting.
